1. What exactly does a Visual Mind Server do?

The Visual Mind Server allows multiple Visual Mind users to share Visual Mind content in real time. Any changes made to a server map will instantly be visible to other users that work on the map. This way, Visual Mind offers businesses and teams live information sharing and management via the intuitive Visual Mind interface.

2. What about related files? Are they also shared?

Yes, if a server map contains other files (Word, Excel, etc.), these other files can viewed or edited by individual users. Any changes made to a file are automatically uploaded to the server map. The Visual Mind Server provides access control to ensure that users do not overwrite each other's changes.

3. Is the Visual Mind Server available for trial?

Yes, you can evaluate the Visual Mind Server for 30 days for free. Please visit the Visual Mind Server download page.

4. The Server is only available in English. Does this mean that it only support English Visual Mind clients?

The language of the server is 100% independent from the language of the clients. So the Visual Mind Server supports clients of all languages.

5. Can the server be installed on the same PC as a client?

Yes, one PC may run both the server and a Visual Mind client. If high server load is expected, however, we advise a separate computer.

6. I have installed the server. What do I do now?

When the server is installed, you are ready to share maps by storing them on the Visual Mind Server. But before a Visual Mind client can save or load any map to/from the server, you must register the server in the client. The procedure is as follows:

1. On the "Tools" tab, in the "Tools" group, click the "Visual Mind Servers" button. This will open the "Manage Visual Mind Servers" dialog box.
2. Click the "Add..." button. This will open the "Server Properties" dialog box.
3. Type in the IP address and the port of the server. You can find the server's IP address and port by clicking on "Server Setup..." in the main window of the Visual Mind Server.

Now, the user can open server maps by clicking the application button (upper-left corner of Visual Mind) and selecting "Open"->"Map on server".

7. My client cannot connect to the server. What is wrong?

The reason may be one or more of the following:
1. The server is not running.
2. When registering the server in the client, you have entered incorrect IP address or port number.
3. The Visual Mind server is stopped by a firewall. You must open the port that the server uses (default port is 6593).
4. The Visual Mind client is stopped by a firewall. You must open the port that the server uses (default port is 6593).
